A Jock and Miss Popular amidst Diversity
Rating: 2.3/5 (3 ratings)
IntroductionThere’s just so much to do but you get your work done. There’s just such a wide range of people so everyone’s doing things. When its nice out people are playing basketball, they’re out there playing catch. There’s just so much to do.
Campus Life and Social LifeThere are so many rumors that go on with the food – like in the meat they have supplements. It’s just not good, so I usually stick to the salad bar – it’s the freshest thing that they have but if you like junk food and you’re like a typical college student, and like the pizza or the burgers they have the ice-cream machine. It’s not that bad. There are so many dorms around. South West I feel like there’s kids that are there basically like the jocks. Central is a little more laid back – it’s kind of like you do your work, but then you go to South West and go to parties on the weekends. The RA’s are pretty lenient. its just if you’re going to go like crazy or whatever and have like huge amounts of people in your room then your definitely gonna get busted.
AcademicsLast semester, I took biology, there was like 4 to 500 people in my class, so you kind of luck out when you get the big lectures, cause then you get away with not going to class. You don’t really think that its that big, like my com class. Its huge but you’re just like – the rooms, it’s warm, you don’t really get a feel like Oh My Gosh its so big. Basically, when you know your major you tend to take your basics, like your math, science, everything like that. And then you go into your field.
Student BodyYou have like the typical football crowd you have baseball, hockey, hockey’s really big here. I’ve been to a few hockey games, its fun, like they have the Maroon Platoon or whatever, people go crazy but they have Sam the Minute Man, the mascot who’s always there. From High School I played tennis so I wasn’t like the whole football type person but when you come here its like you’re instantly thrown into a mix of people that have the spirit. So, you go to the games – it like you have to. There’s so many like different people, so many different ethnicities around here. It’s cool, because you get a feel for different opinions that people have and different cultures. So it’s pretty diverse.
In Closing...Since I’m from New Jersey I came to visit after I was accepted and I was like OK. I think I saw pictures and everything. I was like, OK, this looks like a great school to go to. But then once I came driving up – I freaked out. I started crying. I was like Oh My God, I’m to school and it looks so bad and I don’t want people to visit me cause it’s just gonna be so gross. At first it’s a little disturbing, which is like the big towers and everything. And it does look concrete but it’s warm. You get a feel for the campus and you just know, you know what you like. There are different parts for everyone
