Fun Safety School
IntroductionI applied to three different schools, I also applied to Boston College and Villanova, I think this school is definitely a lot easier. I’m trying to get straight A’s but if I wanted to I could pass, I think, and barely ever go to class. Especially the first two years we have mainly 400 person lectures – they're gonna go so slow just to accommodate everyone. It was really pretty easy.
Campus Life and Social LifeCan’t be timid at U MASS. You have to sort of know what you want, unless you come here with a large group of friends. It can swallow you up cause it is so huge and you can feel like you’re just a speck and entirely unimportant. It’s very important to put yourself out there, if you think you want to do something or you’re interested in, something just go do it. Living off campus is definitely at first a lot less stressful because you don’t have to worry about RA’s monitoring your drinking, having your door closed and being too loud and things like that. But then, the apartment complex we chose to live in, you can get in trouble pretty easy too.

AcademicsYou can get out of here in three and a half years with out even trying, really, it’s not difficult at all – you just have to know what you want and like I said before, you have to go do it. Go look for it. Go ask someone about it. Otherwise you’re gonna get lost in the paperwork with a thousand other students and they can’t go looking for you when you’re one of a thousand. You have to go looking for the help and it’s there. There’s a system called personal response system that is supposed to help monitor attendance. It’s a Infra Red system where you have to punch a button and it can show up as wether or not you're there. And teachers can use it to ask questions and stuff. A couple of teachers use it, but in those larger lectures, like 400 person lectures, a lot of them don’t use it and by thy second week or third week, half the class is there.
Student BodyU MASS was the first school to ever have a Sports Management program along with I think the University of Ohio in Ohio. And since then we’ve had very well distinguished faculty and people with good experience, they come back to U MASS to teach here. And we’ve placed people in professional sports industry throughout league offices and professional teams, things like that.
In Closing...You can’t be afraid to put yourself out there and try to make new friends and meet new people. Otherwise, you’re gonna cry and want to leave in a couple of weeks.
