The grass is greener at your hometown...
IntroductionI chose the University of Memphis because they paint this wonderful pictures of campus and campus life. The campus repesentative had us so excited about this school. He updated us all the time and made sure we were in contact with him. This made me feel like they wanted me there and they really cared. When we came for a visit it looked like the perfect school they had a lot to offer us and the people were very nice, I felt like it would be my home away from home. You should stay away from most Memphis natives. They are mean, rude, and some are very snappish towards you. This can be a shock if you didn't come from here.
Campus Life and Social LifeWell the parties aren't that great. One party between the greeks turned into a block massacre which ended at the dorms with guns being pulled out. It's kind of dangerous in Memphis you can't go around to just any neighborhood. The basketball team is pretty good. The only thing that I liked was the Blue Crew I was in, nice basket pep squad.

AcademicsAll my professors except two were easy and good. The workload for the most part isn't very hard or demanding.
Student BodyThere are alot of Memphis natives and alot of out of town people. Mostly though you have the typical groups like you would see in high school. A lot of Memphis people like Three Six Mafia and Yo Gottie. Almost everyone I met was either a rapper, musician,in a band, producer, or something. Memphis is all about music.
In Closing...When we got here dorm check in is terrible we only had Sat and Sunday to get our rooms ready becuase school started monday. There were countless times our lights and electricity went off for no reason and stayed off all night. The elevators are always broke for extended periods of time. The food isn't all to great not much variety. Parking isn't good. Their tution increased 12% this year for unknown reasons. They have alot of fees and things that you pay for but they don't let you know what they are for and how you use them. I do not like my dorm I stay in richardson towers the only good thing is we have suite bathrooms we share them with another room, overall the rooms are very old and alot of them have mold growin in them which is dangerous. The heat was turned on while it was hot and know that it is getting cold the air is on they can't seem to get it right. Memphis is a weird place in general. Everything is spaced far apart the people are mean and crazy this is no lie. The guys down here...a lot of them are stalkers and crazy themselves but you can meet some nice ones if you are lucky. The teachers I've had so far are alright. I don't really like the way this school is run and how they respond to complaints. Also I don't like the greek life here I wanted to pledge but i won't do it here. If you are going to come to this school anyway then maybe you should live in another dorm don't get a meal plan just tiger funds, you need to know people with a car or drive your own because there aren't many things in walking distance like walmart and stuff or clothing stores and malls.
The university has alot of students but the classes are small so thats good and they also have a build your own major program and i think that have a great music and business program those are some positives to look at.
