Bureaucracy!

Rating: 3.1/5 (40 ratings)
Introduction
This is a huge, amazing school... unfortunately nobody cares about you here (at least that's how it feels) and you're pretty much on your own. It was a tough transition to get used to, but on a good note if you can make it here you can make it anywhere. I'd say this place is worth it in spite of all of its problems if you're in-state or have some sort of scholarship, otherwise look elsewhere.

Campus Life and Social Life
Way too much partying, but I guess people do it because the academics are so hard and they're miserable. Greek life is big and very exclusive at times. Also... everything revolves around football in the fall, which can get a bit annoying.
Academics
Crazy tough academics, pretty easy to get a B but nearly impossible to get an A. Very tough weeder classes for almost every department. Based on the experiences of a lot of my really smart friends, I wouldn't come here if I were considering medicine because those classes are impossible and most people who go down that route have grades that are so low that they have no chance of getting into medical school because there's no inflation whatsoever with those classes. I wish I had done the business school because they actually inflate grades there and most people land amazing jobs.

Graduation distribution requirements are a real pain! Do not save it all until the end, otherwise you'll be miserable your senior year.

Student Body
Very rich school, lots of Detroit suburbs, NY (Long Island especially) and NJ, Chicago, California. It can get very annoying and people get very condescending at times. The average student is good at taking tests but very ignorant about everything else. There are a lot of incredibly stupid people at this school too, which is I guess what happens when you go to a larger institution like this.

In Closing...
Good luck!
