I like the U of M

Rating: 4/5 (21 ratings)
Introduction
This is a huge school with tons of people, and I wanted to be a little fish in a big pond. You are right in minneapolis and there is always something very cool going on. If you don't enjoy meeting lots of new people and if you dislike fun, I would suggest a smaller school because you are thrown into situations where you can make tons of friends and no matter who you are there is always something fun to do here.

Campus Life and Social Life
There are lots of intramural teams that you can join, the football games are pretty beastly, same with hockey and basketball. There are lots of nightclubs (and strip clubs) to go to around here. There are always parties on the weekends, house parties are way more decent then frat parties, but the frat parties are still pretty good AND there is literally every club that you could ever ask for.

Academics
The math department is horrible, absolutely horrible, make sure that you go into the class that you test into. Chemistry is a good department, Kenneth Leopold is a beast, and the TA's are really good as well. The art department is also really great, pretty new facilities and really good teachers.

Student Body
Almost every student is from Wisconsin or Minnesota. There is really every kind of person here, there is no typical student.

In Closing...
This school really does give you the best of academics as well as social types of things. You can't get partied out here which so many Madison students say happens to them, and as long as you keep up with your assignments you can definitely do well in this school. Oh, and lots of hot girls...
