What They Don't Tell You About Going Greek
IntroductionThe biggest piece of advice I'd give a high school student is: keep your mind on your money...and your parents. Just think about why you're going to school. I probably sound like your parents myself, telling you this, but you need to hear it a zillion times. If you parents are rollin' in it and all you wanna do is party and be a cute little sorority girl who just drinks and shakes her ass the night before a final and ends up passed out in a bathroom somewhere in some fraternity house, barely making in to your final, than this is the school for you.
I can only really give you a Greek perspective...but I chose this school for the wrong reasons. Because there was more to do here than at State, there were lots of bars, and because the campus was pretty. I should have been thinking about where I could go to get the best education and get into nursing school quickly and get out into the world and start making some money and living my life the way i want to.
Instead, I came to Ole Miss, got caught up in Rush (which i now think is absolutely miserable and sinful). I mostly wish i had gone to a community college first or taken a year off. I wasted two semesters here and i can't get those back. Also, the classes are really hard to get into sometimes.
Campus Life and Social LifeSocial life: intramural sports here are lots of fun. The outdoor program is cool but because i went Greek I didn't discover it. I was too busy trying to get myself into a cool sorority (see above).

AcademicsAcademics at Ole Miss: the professors I liked, but it sucked that I couldn't get into the courses I wanted.
Student BodyHere's a rundown of the "typical" Ole Miss student.
male= khakis, polo, shades croakies, party party party
female= jeans, shaker shirt, large shades, rainbows
It's pretty monotonous. Same ole same ole...Ole Miss.
In Closing...THINK hard about who you are and what you are about before you jump into something. Including Ole Miss.
