UNLV I Love it!
IntroductionUNLV is a large school in a large city. It is in the middle of town so if you don't like being arround a lot of people then it is not the place for you. Also, UNLV is about change and innovation so if you love old things and keeping with tradition then it is not for you, but if you love new ideas and making change then UNLV is your school.
Make sure that you know the admissions requirements because they have recently changed and made it more competitive to get in. I originally chose UNLV for the cost and location, but grew to love it.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe worst part of campus life is that of the 28,000 students only about 1,000-2,000 really do anything outside of class. The best part is that there is so much to do with clubs, Frats Sororities, sports, activities etc. Also, the night life in Vegas is second to none.
AcademicsThe best department by far is the Hotel/Hospitality college. It is one of the best in the nation. The next best that no one knows about is probably fine arts, because you can actually get a job/experience in Vegas in the arts. Other good departments are business, engineering, and creative writing. The others are just regular.
Student BodyThe student bady is very diverse. Almost as many guys as there are girls. There is a lot of apathy on the campus, but if you look for it, student life exsists on the campus, and within a small group of people there is a lot of spirit.
In Closing...UNLV is one of the best places you could go to school. The people here are great, the professors are great and the opportunities at UNLV and in Vegas are endless. The university is comitted to constant improvement, and you can see it with all of the new buildings and new ideas being put into place. If you choose UNLV you will love it here.
