Different, in a good way
IntroductionOverall, it's a great experience. Faculty and staff are really helpful and care to make you feel respected and relaxed; this is not the case in many other schools! While everyone is devoted to their jobs as fac/staff or education as students, the atmosphere is still pretty laid back and super friendly. One of the major pluses is that it's very safe! Obviously, Asheville is entirely safe, so UNCA is no different. It's just nice to feel safe enough to walk alone without looking over your shoulder every two seconds. Also, the campus itself is nicer than most others and is very clean and green! Everything is of walking distance, and there are even several hiking trails throughout. Walking will also do you good by keeping those extra pounds off, because it's easy to gain 'em with food that's A LOT better than what's served at other schools. The dorms are relatively nice as well. Most importantly, you get all of this for cheaper than what you'll get at most other schools.
Campus Life and Social LifeIt's a small school, but you're bound to make lots of great friends because everyone is friendly and interested in making new friends (well, almost everyone).

AcademicsProfessors and TA's are pretty helpful. They will spend a lot of one-on-one time with you whenever you need it. They're also very considerate, so they won't give you endless amounts of work or think that their class is your only care in life. Fair grades too!
Student BodyParties are fun and not really the out-of-hand type most of the time.
In Closing...You'll feel respected, welcomed, and very free at UNCA. It's a great educational experience (especially with the humanities program) that's relaxed enough to leave plenty of time for you to devote to whatever else in life that interests you... what more could you ask for! The good life at a great price ;) haha
