Choose schools carefully
IntroductionWhen I first came to visit it seemed like a good school, but after a year i realized it wasn't for me.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe party scene is really lame. I thought that going to college would give me more freedoms, but not at Notre Dame. The university basically acts as a parent, actively restricting alcohol consumption and partying, promoting strict adherence to the rules, and even limiting the times you can have members of the opposite sex in your room (parietals). Pretty much everyone obsessed with sports, especially football. None of the clubs seemed very intersting to me. Notre Dame is located in South Bend, Indiana, which is definitely not an exciting place to be. The town has very little to offer (although i may be a bit biased having grown up in a big city).

AcademicsAll of the classes I took were good, although being in Arts and Letters, I had it easy compared to lots of people. The professors i had were knowledgeable and the workload wasn't too hard. Some of the classes i took were annoying, but that was mostly related to personal lack of interest rather then poor teaching. The business school is apparently very good, as well as the school of architecture. Engineering is also top notch. Overall, Notre Dame isn't the best school out there, but its definitely up there.
Student BodyThe student body is noticeably lacking in diversity, both ethnic and economic.
In Closing...The average student is rich, white, probably arrogant to a certain degree, conservative, obsessed with football (and practically every other sport), and focused on academics a little too much. It also gets really cold during the winter. If you're a practicing Catholic who likes sports, is conservative, and doesn't party too much, then Notre Dame is perfect for you. If not, I would recommend somewhere else.
