Da Shiznit
IntroductionThis school is renowned for academic excellence and research programs. All four schools (Wharton, College of Arts & Sciences, Engineering and Nursing) offer top notch education through firsthand experience. Your workload definitely depends on the career you pursue, but you cannot expect to breeze through your studies. Courses are generally challenging, but are well worth the money. You must be ready to put forth the best possible effort to keep up with academics and extracurricular activities. However, remember this is the "social ivy"--you gotta know how to party!
Campus Life and Social LifeYou choose your own social life here. Every night could New Year's Eve 1999 or just a chillout movie session. Most nights you'll be catching up on schoolwork, but if you have a handle on your things, parties start on Wednesday-Thursday. Sports are top-notch and the school is highly spirited in supporting its teams. There is a niche for everyone, whether you are into academics, varsity/club sports, and other clubs. Weekends are usually insane! Basically, Penn is hardcore studying Monday through Thursday...but, study hard, party hard!

AcademicsAcademics rock. We have the Wharton School, world renowned for being the first collegiate Business School in the US, ranking #1 in many employer polls. For business, this is the place to come. The college is highly ranked, and Engineering and Nursing are definitely very strong. Professors are excellent, technology is impressive, and the departments in general offer anything you can imagine. TAs vary greatly, however: they all know their stuff, but some may be better at teaching the material than others (remember these are normally grad students). The workload depends on the school attend (typical stereotypes are that it is extreme in Wharton/Engineering and easy in the College).
Student BodyStudents come from all around the world--it's a mix and match of very different people. In general people are respectful and open-minded, and very interesting characters. Once in a while you get a couple surprises--some people are rather snobbish. However, everyone is dedicated to having a good time and studying hard. Extracurricular activities are HUGE at Penn.
In Closing...Penn is an excellent experience--my first year here may well have been one of the best in my life. You get to meet new people, experience new things, and delve into any subject of interest you like. It's a place where you get to discover who you really are and what you're about. Penn provides the perfect place to develop as an individual. PENN ROCKS!
