Work and Party Hard
IntroductionBeing a sophomore is the best situation. Being a sophomore everything literally comes to you, you don’t have to worry about it. You’re living in the frat, you’ve just joined a new frat, new sorority, whatever it is. There’s all this social stuff going on. There are tons of sororities and they all have like such cute girls. In general I would say that the cutest girls are coming from Tri – Delt. The kids that I spend time with for the most part are pretty relaxed. It’s really kind of pathetic just how much people can devote their time to sitting in one specific environment and bombarding themselves with all this work and studying that they have to get done. You’ve got the stereotype of the social ivy, which is like you’ve got all these dope academics and then kids who party all the time. Which I’ve definitely found to be true. I would say kids are definitely drinking a lot, that’s the main thing. You’re going pretty hard 2,3,4 times a week.
Campus Life and Social LifeSafety can be an issue later on at night. There can be issues getting off campus. There are definitely areas that are more sketchy than not. I mean once you head south of Pines St. it gets a little dicey. Just because the streets aren’t very well lit, there aren’t as many people patrolling cause your coming further off campus. People say, especially to the girls, don’t be walking late by yourself, always be with someone, be mindful. I’ve found that to recently be very true. And you want to be following that for your own sake.

AcademicsPlayboy did a review of 300 colleges a couple of years back…and Penn was ranked 298 out of 300 in terms of how good looking their girls are. I would say it’s a little bit better.
Student BodyYou’re forced to get a meal plan. You can bump it down to the lowest thing possible which is 9 meals a week and $200 dining dollars. Dining dollars is this concept where you can go into different spots on campus that are student affiliated and you can use this prepaid money to buy actually food. It’s a ludicrous price. You’re paying like $10-$12 per meal. And its hard to find stuff that’s edible. The meal plan is rough, but once you get out, you get to take advantage of the food carts on the streets. They’re different restaurants that have popped up especially in the past couple of years. There’s like Italian spots, Greek spots, French spots, there’s anything you want.
In Closing...In the middle of 37th and Locust there is a huge seal, I guess its like the seal of Penn, it’s probably like 15 ft by 15ft . I hadn’t heard that and when I was a freshman, I was walking to class one day and stepped right on the middle. There is a circular center which is the cursed part you don’t want to be treading over. I stepped on it. And I was pulling straight A’s in high school and pulled a C- on my first paper at Penn. I stepped on it, then heard the legend, then got the C- on the paper, so if you can step around it, why not.
