IntroductionDo you like a being in big city where there are never-ending things to do? Do you like being part of a large community of fans in love with sports? Do you want a school that is active in good sports? Do you want a school that offers 8 different schools of interest? Do you want a school that you will love, never think about transferring, and can always have a good time? If you said yes to any of these, Pitt is your choice. I chose Pitt to get away from a place that was into conformity and went to a place where i knew i could just be myelf. Pitt gave me that chance. I love living in Oakland, just a bus ride away from great restaraunts, sports games, museums, shopping and many other unique places. I love Pitt, and you will too!
Campus Life and Social LifeParties are off the hook. Ladies are always free. Pitt Football and Pitt Basketball are crazy aroud here. The Oakland Zoo is famous at Pitt Basketball games, who have been ranked in the top ten of NCAA the past 2 years. Never a problem being social, or getting involved. Big into greek life, but never a must. I'm not part of a sorority and enjoy many other activities such as intermurals and/or social fraternities. Pitt is unique in clubs, we have a Race Car team, Crew team, 4 square team, Gay and Lesbian etc Rainbow Alliance, Pitt Democrats and Pitt Republicans; you name it, we got it.
AcademicsWork is average; depends on what you want to do or major. Teachers are awesome, just never get a TA or Grad Student to teach a class!
Student BodyMost students are either from Pittsburgh or outside Philly. I am from Virginia and still met others from various other states. Everyone makes everyone feel welcome and it's a great place to fit in no matter where you are from. Everyone i have met has been laid back. Sure there are really smart kids, but nobody acts Ivy league or acts better than anyone; we all as a community never belittle others, and everyone I met is supportive and accepting of all majors.
In Closing...The Cathedral of Learning is the building most people label as part of the University of Pittsburgh. It has classes, and even has tours of different nationality rooms, where countries from all over the world decorate a room with their culture and students actually have classes in them. The Austrian rom is my favorite! GO TO PITT! GO STEELERS!
