University of Pittsburgh-Main Campus

Rating: 1.1/5 (72 ratings)
Introduction
It is cold here most of the time, but Pittsuburgh is a great place to live. I chose Pitt because it is in a city that has a lot of culture as well as major sports teams. I also chose it because when I toured the campus I had that feeling that I could see myself here for four years (at least). It may take you more than four years to graduate, but that's true with any school these days. Also there is are great alumni connections to take advatage of and this is quite a well known school, in the real world.

Campus Life and Social Life
Partying has dwindled alot since I started, and girls almost always have to pay now! However it's still a good time most weekends, especialy since there are other schools very close by. Once you are 21 there is a plethera of fun bars and clubs to visit and great ber specials practiacally right on campus! Football and basketball games are always fun, especially when we are good. Weekends are a time to party, meet new people, let off steam and work. There are clubs here for any interest you might have, and if there isn't you can start one yourself. I myself enjoy Greek life very much, it taps into alot of other activities on campus besides parties.

Academics
I'm in CBA and it is a great program with excelent advisors. CAS has tons of great classes and departments, however there advising process is awful, from what I have heard. obviously we have one of the best medical programs, whether for psych, nursing, or pre-med, in the world. Overall I believe Pitt is ranked around 25th in the nation right now, and it has gone up every year since I enrolled four years ago.

Student Body
There is no typical student here, you have your jocks, engineers, bandies, Greeks, etc. Even some of these overlap. No matter what your into you can find it in Pittsburgh, and the school wil help you with that. There's tons of theater, live music, underground music, sports, museums, history, art, and on and on. The only bad thing is you will never have time to do everything you want to do, with your studies.

In Closing...
I love Pitt! Sure our football team is bad right now, but we just got a new coach, and they'll come around in the next few years. And so far no one can beat us at basketball! I'm in a great sorority and have had very few professors, if any that I didn't like. I bleed Blue and Gold..Let's Go Pitt!
