Introduction
First off, I love it here. Definitely apply and VISIT if you are considering the school. I was iffy about it until I visited, and then I fell in love. Try really hard on your essays; remember that thousands of kids are writing these so think outside the box. Write about something that you have spend a lot of time and passion on, it does not have to be super academic, just something that describes you as a person.
INTERVIEW. INTERVIEW. INTERVIEW. these are essential. ask lots of questions and send the person who interviewed you a follow up letter. the guys who interviewed me still remembers me and says hi when he sees me around campus. i know i chose rochester because of the people who go here. most kids know how to have fun but are also interesting people.
i think most people will find there niche here.

Campus Life and Social Life
most people here drink, a lot smoke pot, and maybe 5% do hardcore drugs. Advertisement
Academics
kids are smart, and a lot of intro courses are meant to weed out everyone who does not plan on majoring/dedicating their life to the subject. all professors think that their class is the most important, and treat it as so.
however, there is not an excessive workload, and some people manage to carry out 4.0s and drink every night (greek life) so it's ok.
