USF up and coming
IntroductionA student that is looking for a ton of tradition and history should stay away. Mind you USF is great, but it is young. A good prospective student would be one that is open-minded and understands the age of the school, and that is willing to come here and make a difference by contributing something special, like Spirit... Oh, you can also drink on campus!!!
Campus Life and Social LifeWe're not a college town. Translation there is a ton of stuff to do in the area. Awesome beaches, ton of night life, beautiful people. We have 3 major sports teams, and the best weather. If someone wants a 'college town' , you know a place that is only busy during the school year, the type of place that the only thing to do is go to a trashy bar and drink unknown beer, then go to UF. We're on the outskirts of a major metropolitan area that is booming. We still offer 'college life' its just not all in 4 square blocks. It's scattered around campus in casual to upscale apartments. Thriving economy also surounds you. If you want sports...welcome to the Big East...oh yeah there is also this crazy group on campus called the Beef Studs that are notorious at all sports events, if you don't kow about them you soon will, ask around... You can drink on campus!!!

Student BodyA typical USF student is from the Tampa Bay area. There school of first choice probably was not USF. They probably did not have the grades for UF, or the money for Miami, or just couldn't get into FSU. See I love USF, but being in a state with so many roots and ties to other schools make it tough. I can safely say though that the other colors are slowly fading from the landscape, and that USF is developing pride and tradition among the student body. Oh yeah I can't forget about the ton of international students here....You can drink on campus!!!
In Closing...Bottom line the school will provide you many opportunities for success. It doesn't have the 'campus' feel like many older schools do, because we were once a huge commuter school. The tide has turned the other way though, and the student body is embracing it. I have never seen so many new buildings popping up, the on-campus housing is increasing annually, and the spirit is growing quickly. By the way, probably some of THE hottest girls you'll find....You can drink on campus!!!
