Best Decision I Made!
Rating: 2/5 (102 ratings)
IntroductionI chose USC for the degree and the spirit (though the sunny weather is an awesome plus). USC and Annenberg - the communication/journalism school - have an amazing reputation and even better connections after you graduate. The party scene is prevalent, but you can definitely still get your work done. I *LOVE* that you can choose majors in completely different areas of study like business and bio or chem and social work! Still, if you hate football and school spirit, you might want to think twice (or at least visit the campus) before you decide to come here.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe Greek life is huge! There are 5 different Greek councils and there are frats and sororities for everyone's taste. There are also *tons* of organizations for whatever you're interested in, and all of them offer different social opportunities.
AcademicsThe Communication, Cinema, and Business are fantastic schools within USC. Our professors are amazing. Even GEs are taught by real professors. Although GEs tend to suck everywhere, the variety of GEs here makes it possible to choose something that you're relatively interested in. It’s probably impossible to never have a bad class, professor, or TA but I’d say that they’re few and far between. The work load is bearable, but it really depends on the classes you take.
Student BodyThe "typical" USC student wears a red shirt and hat with their victory sign in the air while they’re cheering for the team on a game day. Other than that, there is no "typical" USC student. As a private school, there's no preference on California students versus the rest of the state. We also have a large number of international students. And, though tuition is still high, there's always financial aid. Not everyone here is loaded and driving a BMW.
In Closing...I love USC - coming here was the best decision I ever made. Fight On!
