Runs in the family
IntroductionMy family all went here. I always like USC and went to the football games when I was younger, and I really liked it. So I just kind of ended up here. USC is very big on alumni and the association is huge here. The Trojan family is the network of all the alumni and you can get jobs through them and stuff. They really like hiring USC grads and stuff. They are very active here. George Lucas donated a building here for instance. They come back, and they help out.
Campus Life and Social LifeFootball is huge here. We won the national championship 2 years in a row now. We lose very rarely. The stadium fills up to like 100,000 people and it doesn’t matter who we are playing, everyone is there. And it’s great being a student because you get tickets pretty cheap. It’s like 100 dollars for all the games in the student section, which are pretty good seats.
They are stopping serving alcohol at the football games. They had it every year up until next year. It is a wet campus. There is a bar on campus. They have a nice restaurant upstairs where you can drink wine and be classy. I think one of the reasons it is wet is so that kids don’t drive drunk. They can just drink here so they don’t have to worry about getting in trouble.
When you are tailgating, people bring beers so that people can start partying before the game even starts itself. When there is game, there the alumni come back. There are booths set up everywhere.
AcademicsI was in Delta Chi. I think it started in 1912.
I got old, and I moved out of the House. I just needed my own space. It just didn’t make sense to do it anymore.
It is actually pretty big here. There are a couple thousand kids in the Greek system. A lot of people have a lot of fun there. It is a great way to meet people. The Greek system was really fun as a freshman and sophomore meeting people, but eventually it just kind of got old. I didn’t like living in my small House, in my small room. I just wanted to do my own thing. I just wanted to do my own thing. I didn’t want to be a part of that whole scene anymore. It’s kind of too exclusive in a sense. You do meet a lot of people in the beginning, but then you realize you are just meeting the same people over and over again. So that is why I stopped.
Student BodyWe have really beautiful girls here at USC. There is always something new you see. They are very nice and outgoing and I enjoy them a lot.
One aspect of it is the LA scene, where people are very wealthy and very into fashion and the entertainment industry. But it’s not the majority of people here. It is actually a really diverse campus. You can find any kind of person you want here. There are so many exchange students that come here, and there are students from all 50 states. It’s actually pretty cosmopolitan. It’s not just one spread or breed or people.
In Closing...I party in my dorm a lot when I was a freshman. That was fun. That is where I met a lot of my friends I still have now. When I was a freshman, I pledged a fraternity, so I was there a lot. A lot of the younger kids are into the Greek system here. I was there for most of my sophomore year.
I just hang out at home a lot, or at one of my friends’ places. We’ll go out to Hollywood. Sometimes we go downtown.
