It's Possible to Find Good TAs
IntroductionIf you’re accepted to UT you can go to either Liberal Arts or the School of Natural Sciences. And then you have to apply to the school of business, the school of communications, the school of social work. So you have to apply to these schools and I would say that as far as UT is concerned all of these colleges are fairly highly ranked. And I’m in the college of liberal arts and everybody like hates liberal arts, but I love liberal Arts, I mean, it’s definitely my passion. I’ve really enjoyed my classes that I’ve taken.
Campus Life and Social LifeThere is a pretty large Greek scene, but again, if that’s not your thing, like I’ve never been to a frat party and I rarely see frat people around. And I do party and I go out and I have a good time but that’s just not my scene. Like it’s definitely present on campus and I know a lot of people who are involved in it and really like it and really appreciate its presence throughout their college experience but if it’s not your thing, there’s so much alternative groups and cool stuff going on.

AcademicsI’ve been really pleased with the quality of the teaching assistants at UT, thus far. Generally you’ll have a TA sections. So you’ll have like lecture 3 times a week maybe and then you’ll have an hour in addition where the TA meets with you and talks to you about the class material and generally, that is meant to clear things up regarding what’s going on in the class. For the most part, you do have to make an effort to go to their office hours and talk to them about assignments and questions you have about the coursework.
Student BodySome kind of infatuation with football at the University, like if that’s your bag like right-on. Like people get really into it. It’s funny on game days you be walking around and there will just be a sea of orange. But it’s definitely not everybody. I mean, come on there’s 50,000 people at this university, not everybody’s going to be interested in football.
In Closing...You do have to pursue things that you want at UT. And that’s something you’re going to face for the rest of your life. Things are not handed to you here. And I think that’s a really valuable life lesson.
