Awesome in Nearly Every Way

Rating: 4/5 (12 ratings)
Introduction
If you're coming into UT, at least have an idea of what you want to do later on in life. It'll help. I chose it because I've loved the school since fourth grade. I come from Texas originally, and as someone who loves the state, the tradition and prestige here was initially appealing. When I visited, it was even better. There's something for everyone here, and groups on campus do a great job of shrinking it all down so that everyone can feel like they fit in. The only folks who need not apply are those who don't think they can handle the daunting vast empire that is the University of Texas. It's amazing.

Campus Life and Social Life
Weekends are sick in Austin. The town is really cool, and again, whatever your bag, you're gonna find something great to get pluged into. Lots of partying. Disc golf is huge here. You've got Town Lake, Lake Travis, and the Guadalupe River just to the South. UT Football is ridiculously fun. All UT sports are a great time. I guess the only drawback socially is APD. It is widely documented that they are racist pigs.
Academics
Academically, UT will challenge everyone. Great Business School. The Communication School is amazing as well. We've got amazing student media. People come from all over the world to study engineering here. I can't think of a department that you would consider a weakness here at UT. You're going to get a great education. Period. Most professors are accesible despite large class sizes. TA's can really help in those instances as well. For the most part, they're genuinely willing and ready to help if you're willing to work at it. It gets tough at times, sure, but it wouldn't be the best if it didn't. The workload can get pretty heavy, but if you get in, you can do it.

Student Body
The student body is so diverse I don't think I can truly explain it in this space. Your eyes will be opened to people you've never had to deal with. It's great to be in a place that will prepare you socially for anything you will experience in the workplace. And, look, just becasue I'm not making specific mention of the numerous hotties, just look at it this way. Diversity means hotties from the world over. It's an amazing thing.

In Closing...
The museums and libraries on campus and around town are great as well.
