Thomas Jefferson and Streaking

Rating: 3/5 (82 ratings)
Introduction
The streaking ritual goes that sometimes you have to streak across the lawn naked, which starts at the Rotunda, which is Thomas Jefferson's building, and you go to the other side of the Rotunda which is Cabell Hall, which is like our classroom building and it's quite a long distance. I've been walking in the middle of the night across the Rotunda and you definitely see people running across naked. I've haven't done it yet, I think I am going to wait till my fourth year because I think it should be kind of like a departing ritual.

Campus Life and Social Life
One of the first things you will notice when you come here is that the architecture is stunning, the whole campus is very cohesive in terms of brick buildings and white columns and the gardens are beautiful, everything is well landscaped and the university definitely puts a lot of time and money in terms of making it nice. So you never kind of fee like you are on a ratty campus where they don't care about you. Everything is always tip top shape. It so nice to walk around you kind of feel like you are somewhere removed from reality. It's kind of nice.
Academics
The professors are really available and their office hours are very flexible. Commerce is the Macintyre School of Commerce which is behind me. And you come to UVA in the college of Arts and Sciences and you apply your second year, so you don't start you major until your third year and studying marketing and management is really intense and rigorous but its really rewarding, you have class with the same 40 students everyday for three hours you really get to know everyone. And I feel like the professors are a step up from what you would get in the college, I feel like the experience is really good in the Comm school as we call. I would highly recommend it to anyone, I love it.

Student Body
I would be honest and say that there is a fairly similar group of kids. They're very preppy, fun, like to party, but on the other hand you also have a really smart, so it's kind of like the dichotomy of kids who are really bright and top of their class and they come here and they study hard and play hard, I guess I would say. I'd say one of my favorite things about UVA is just the people and just like the atmosphere, what it's like to walk around and what it's like at night. I mean there is definitely what I'd say is a certain type of UVA student.

In Closing...
At first I was kind of confused because official we're the Cavaliers and unofficially we're the Wahoos. I kind of like Wahoo better. Supposedly the Wahoo is a fish that drinks it weight in water. So I don't really know, it's just a myth I guess, I don't really think that's anything. I think it is a good mascot. It's not the toughest guy on the block, but it's not bad and at the football games its nice to see the horse come out with the Cavalier on it and everyone gets riled up.
