UVA is amazing despite the haters.
IntroductionI would like to start off by saying that the review of UVA below me titled "Mindless Drones" is definitely not very accurate at all. There are pesimistic people like the reviewer who came before me, and this happens when you are socially awkward and unfit to relate to people. There are a couple kids like this at UVA, they are usually engineers but not always. They are very weird and hangout with their 3 other socially unfit friends. Since they don't fit in with the typical UVA student (preppy, fun, smart, and social), they tend to shun away from society into their own awkward setting. If you come to UVA try to be open from the beginning and be friendly with everyone and you'll love the school.
Campus Life and Social LifeI do know a couple of people like the reviewer before me and they don't really fit in to the party and frat scene. Unfortunately, they feel remorse towards UVA because they don't fit in, so they hate on the school as if there is something wrong with it, when there is actually something wrong with them, because there is only a very small number of people who are socially unfit and awkward that don't like the school, but that's because very few people want to be around them due to their pesimism.
AcademicsGreat academics, very challenging. Teachers are usually good and TA's too. Usually a lot of work, depending on the courses you take. There are very few "easy" courses here at UVA.
Student BodyMost kids are actually not that preppy. Many frat. guys and sorority girls are preppy, but that's about it. You don't see people walking around in pink Lacoste shirts with popped collars all day, only sometimes. I actually like this trend as it makes our school stand out (whether it's in a positive or negative way).
In Closing...To finish up, UVA is amazing, great academics, great people, great fraternity and sorority scene, food sucks, girls are hot, not much to do except bars and frat parties, but this should be enough to hold you over for 4 years. UVA is great, just beware of the Comm School if you're coming for Business, because admissions suck, they only care about you GPA and nothing else, so if you can manage a 3.5 your in, if you are a wonder student (involved in everything, a leader, internships, etc.) but have around a 3.0 - 3.2 forget about getting in. The Comm School only wants robots.
