Having faith
IntroductionEveryone here is an outspoken sports fan. Seattle is great sports city in general with the Mariners and the Sonics. Everybody here loves the Huskies. I’m not a super sports fanatic. More of the basketball side than football. I’ve never painted myself though. When I came to Udub the basketball team wasn’t very good, but we are turning it around. Things are changing a little bit now.
Campus Life and Social LifeI did not live in the dorms freshman year. I lived in a Christian house on Greek row.
I enjoy college a lot more than high school. I like being on your own and having a lot more freedom than back in high school.
My first two years in the Christian house we had a cook in the house and he cooked for us which was great. If you live on campus you get a food card and there are a lot of options there. I haven’t heard anybody complain about not having enough food. It’s not too bad. The card is basically like a debit card where you put a certain amount of money on it and you can go to a restaurant on campus. There’s a subway and other restaurants too. You just swipe the card and they give you food just like that.
AcademicsI’ve had classes with 700 people before. It’s not as bad as you would think. A lot of times they have a section to go to once or twice a week that’s smaller only like 20 people.
You get to know your TA’s and you get to have conversations about the material also. It’s not like you are just thrown into this huge class and just a number. No one takes attendance so if you don’t feel like you need to go you don’t have to go.
I’ve had a few TA’s that didn’t have quite a strong grasp on the English language. I wouldn’t say that it has affected my grades at all though.
Student BodyUdub is very diverse. There are a lot of students that come in from out of the country, from Asian countries.
I don’t really go to too many parties. All the dating I’ve done is take a girl out on a date.
Udub has a very large Greek system and culture sort of all its own. I lived around it basically my entire college career. It seems like a lot of fun. I have a lot of friends in fraternities and sororities, they are all really cool people. They all speak really highly of the Greek system.
In Closing...I don’t snowboard or ski, but a lot of people here do. Intramural sports are huge here. I play football, I’ve played softball on 2 teams here.
Intramurals is basically like a sports team when you play against other students. It’s a lot of fun.
There are plenty of places around here to go hiking once you get out of the city, probably all like a half hour outside of the city. It’s really fun, it’s a beautiful, beautiful area.
The students here are very political. Udub is a very liberal campus and you figure that out pretty quick.
I’ve never heard about people doing really hard drugs, but I know that people drink, whether socially or not socially.
