Partying at State Sider

Rating: 2/5 (75 ratings)
Introduction
School spirit is a really big deal here – I was never that much of a sports fan but when I came to school here its so much fun to get involved and go to the football games and go to the basketball games and just be apart pf it and get into it – it just makes your experience that much more fun and its definitely a party we of course get up early and have a party before we go to the game and eat and cook out – its just a really good time and even if you’re not that into the sport, you’re still there because its something social to do and its fun to root for the team – its just an all around really fun thing that I never necessarily imagined myself being apart of but now that I’m here, I’m really glad I had that experience.

Campus Life and Social Life
I lived in a private dorm which was right near campus called State Sider and I loved it I thought it was very social and they were very lenient about partying which was really nice – we didn’t have some of the stricter rules that the other kids did in the campus dorms so we definitely took advantage of that and we had a great time doing the normal things – off campus I’d say there’s tons of parties every night of the week – there’s something going on there’s so many people who go to school here so there’s always some thing to go to – its just a matter of you have to find out about it.

I definitely think the party scene here is one of the best – the bars here are a big part of it but thankfully there pretty lax on ID’s – people do get tickets but if you get an ID you can pretty much get into the bars so I actually spent a lot of freshman year going to the bars – which is probably a little different than a lot of other campuses.

Academics
I don’t think too highly of online classes I know that they’re available and I know people have taken them but I think you’re sort of cheating yourself out of a good education that’s available here. If you’re talking a full schedule and you just want to take 1 online class as a filler or if its not available anywhere else, then I think its OK.

I try to steer clear of those kind of classes because there’s so many other better opportunities here and I find that the online classes are just not as serious. Its hard to get so much out of it when you cant even come face to face with a professor or you know sit in the lecture and absorb it that way. When you absorb it online I think it’s a little bit different and a little bit less effective educationally.

Student Body
I have no many ideas how many hours I study – I’m a very hard working student so I find myself constantly overwhelmed but that’s how I am – I think no matter where I am I’ll be that way because that’s just how I function and I overload myself wit work. And I tend to take everything very seriously but I think the classes here are great and I think they’re appropriate level of work and there’s really wide variety between some classes are just known as being a little bit easier and some are a little bit harder and as for the required courses I think that’s a necessary requirements I believe that a liberal arts education should be a wide variety of things – I personally don’t like Math or Science but I’m glad that I took those classes – I hated them at the time but I needed to do it and it’s the last time I’ll ever do it in my life and I think its important that University of Wisconsin wasn’t you to leave here being a well educated person across the board not just in what you’re studying.

In Closing...
State Streets awesome – its just a long, like a mile long street filled with bars, restaurants, shops. Since I’ve been here there’s been a lot more nice stores have come in and its just a nice place to walk up and down – I’ve been here now for 4 years so I pretty much know everything that’s there and you know you have you’re favorite place to go but there’s a really nice variety – its not like there’s only 5 bars on campus – there’s tons, you know I don’t go to the same places I went to freshman year and I can sort of mature with the social scene I don’t have to continue doing the same thing every Saturday night.
