IntroductionI chose this school because I loved the community and the area. Everything is pretty much outdoors. There is shopping about an hour away so, for those who love to shop, go to Fort Collins Colorado. People who like warm weather should stay away. Laramie is at 7,200 feet, so we do get a lot of snow during the winter and Winter doesn't end til about mid May when school gets out for Summer break. Also, we have had issues with homophobes here before and we encourage people who do not accept gays and lesbians to not come here, or if you are gay, follow the dont ask dont tell policy.
Campus Life and Social LifePartys are around. Especially during a home football game. Lots of pregaming. Not only are the college students involved with sports but the community is also very involved and comes to a lot of the games. Weekends can be boring, but we do have an event every Friday that is free. Sometimes its movies that are still in theatres, or blow up jungle gyms,or even comedians and concerts. We had Switfoot play in 2005, and Hootie and the Blowfish in 2006.

AcademicsEvery department has its pros and cons. I'd say the math department needs an update with teaching but other than that its all good. TA's are monitored and mostly every teacher curves. Workloads get heaver as time goes on and you get into 3000 and 4000 level classes.
Student BodyThere are soo many clubs to choose from! We are just starting an untimate frisbee team for those who are accepted and want to join! Students are very open and friendly. The only bad part is that there is little to no shopping in town other than a Walmart, K-mart, and Bath and Body Works. Everyone enjoys the sporting events and we usually have a full house at every football game and mens basketball. Go Pokes!
In Closing...People are rarely unaccepted socially at the school. Don't be afraid to come. Evryone is in the same boat as you when school starts no matter what year you are. Even returning Juniors and Seniors have to make new friends each year because of new living arangements.
