Learn lots, Party nots.

IntroductionThe school is bigger then I thought it would be, but its still feels small with in my major. You can get a lot more hands-on one-on-one help from the professors, but the classes are all pretty small and if you're not there, it doesn't really go unnoticed, so if you want a lecture-hall class where you can not show up and get away with it, UVSC isn't the place for you.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe party scene is what you make it. There aren't a lot of on-campus activities during the weekend, other then games and occasional dance, but the surrounding cities have dance clubs, malls, movie theatres, etc. If you want to find it, ask around, and you can, but the school doesn't get too involved with the whole "social scene."

AcademicsThe dance department is really, really awesome! There are a lot of different types of dance you can learn, and pretty much everybody knows everybody else. There isn't a huge gap between the different genres, which I love because I can learn more about all the different kinds of dance through my peers, and I'm ENCOURAGED to expand my dancing horizons. The education department is really good too, with lots of one-on-one help. All of the generals that you have to take are supposed to be a lot easier then at other schools, so a lot of students come here to get those out of the way, and then transfer to another school, like BYU or USU. You might laugh at this, but if you're not a complete math whiz, stay away from a math teacher who has a name you can't pronounce. Those professors are usually foreign and have a hard time teaching in english terms. However, we have a great math lab that gives you free tutoring, and they're great to clear up and confusion from class. The writing lab is also so nice, because they'll help edit your papers for you and make sure your MLA format is 100% correct.
Student BodyOn campus during the week, there are a lot of different activities during lunch time. Obstacle courses, free snacks, dance offs, etc. are some things the SBO's use to try and get the students involved with each other. Those are super fun to be involved with, but there aren't many weekend activities to do on campus.
In Closing...The campus is so awesome! all the buildings are connected to each other, so you never HAVE to go outside, which in Utah, with the really hot summers, and really cold winters, is nice. There are lots of windows to let in natural light, a big outdoor quad to go relax or study in if the weather's nice, and lots of little corners you can go chill in with friends or alone. The students are really nice here too, its super easy to make new friends.
