Beautiful Campus with Great Student Life

Rating: 4.1/5 (19 ratings)
Introduction
It’s a beautiful campus we have all kinds of trees, we have nice buildings. The students here are all very nice, everyone here seems to be very outgoing and part of it probably comes from the fact that we are in the South. I really like the way that it’s laid out, everything’s within walking distance of each other. You can get to all your friends dorms by walking. It’s really a nice campus – it’s easy to get a round - its beautiful and the people are really nice and outgoing.

Campus Life and Social Life
I live over in Branscom Quad and just a bunch of double rooms – everybody lives really close together, it’s a really close knit community we have a lot of fun over there. I’m very happy where I live. Late Nights, everybody kind of comes back from partying and hangs out and does stupid stuff in the lobby and its just kind of a big community – everybody’s friends and we just kind of have a good time. It definitely gets a little rowdy at night, but that’s part of being in college.
Academics
Human Organizational Development is kind of like a psychology, business program that really prepares students for kind of the real world in terms of interaction with other people and understanding relationships between people. Well, the professors – I really like a lot of my professors here and some of them I don’t like so much. The ones that I’ve had at Peabody College and HOD I really like a lot, some of the ANS ones I don’t like so much – the Peabody professors are really willing to get to know their students on a personal level and kind of be their friend more so. I don’t find it too difficult here. We definitely work hard but we also have a lot of fun and the work that we do seems to be very much worthwhile.

Student Body
Greek Life on Vanderbilt seems to be a pretty big deal I think the percentages say 30% of guys and 50% of girls but for my experience the apparent reflection is much higher. Like most of my guy friends and most of my girlfriends are in some kind of a Greek Fraternity or Sorority. So social life is fairly dominated by Greek life however if you don’t want it to be – it does not have to be. If you’re a Greek you probably spend a lot of time at your own house or at other houses. If you’re not Greek you probably still spend a lot of time when you at the houses but it wont be your own house. A lot of people go downtown. Downtown Nashville is really nice, a lot of different clubs and bars to go to for all kinds of interests. So there’s really plenty of things to do – if you’re not interested in partying and drinking and stuff, there’s plenty of other things to do., I don’t drink, I have an awesome time here. I still go to all the Fraternity parties. We go downtown, we go to Wild Horse, we go out to dinner, hang out with friends, there’s always plenty of stuff to do. During the basketball season there was more school spirit reflected than the football season. Football season – the kids show up to the games, they go out to the game and its more of a social activity than really to be a fan of the game = however its still really a fun time. At Basketball everyone’s seems to be really more into the actual competition. I’m very impressed with the girls on this campus – we have a reputation for having beautiful girls and they absolutely are. Everyone here is really outgoing and nice – a lot of people are from the South and I’m from the North and I’ve really noticed the people are really friendly outwardly and make efforts to be really friendly and polite. The girls here are really admirable I think. I mean some girls party more than others but everyone seems to be at the end of the day rely respectful person.

In Closing...
It’s kind of a work hard, play hard atmosphere. Everybody works hard during the week and they go out and party hard on the weekends and or the weeknights for a lot of people. I don’t find it too difficult to balance work and play but we definitely have our good share of work and we have a good share of fun. So that’s one of the benefits of coming here that you feel fulfilled with what you’ve done during the week and you can go out and have a good time when you’re all through with it.
