Why not to go to Washington State

Rating: 5/5 (44 ratings)
Introduction
I chose Washington State because I thought it would be a great place to party and to get the education that I needed. Though, after figuring out the system and realizing what was necessary, I found out that the atmosphere that I was surrounded by at Washington State was quite a deterrent to the education that I was trying to get. If you are mainly focused on getting a great education you should really think about not going into the greek system.

Campus Life and Social Life
The best part of the social life is that you meet a lot of good people. Though, you do meet a lot of rude, stuck up people who think that they are better than you because they look better than you or that they have more money than you. The football games are great. Everyone goes to them and they are always fun to go to. The basketball and baseball games have lower attendance from students but are still fun to go watch. The weekends usually consist of the greek system getting drunk nearly every weekend. It is usually a fun time.

Academics
The problem with the communication department is that it is theory based. In other words, it is what the professor thinks is right and they usually base their tests on their opinions. The part that is really hard at Washington State is that it is a far distance from high school in the sense that you go to a class with 100-500 people, take notes, and leave. Then you have 3 tests a semester that make up your entire grade. I also have a bad experience with professors in those classes because they don't care is you pass or fail. You don't have a relationship with the teacher which makes it difficult for some teachers.

Student Body
Most of the students that I have encountered are from big cities, rarely from small towns. The typical student usually consists of a spoiled child that uses all of mommy and daddy's money. With that said, if you aren't as perfect as they are(i.e. have a nice car, look beautiful, have a lot of money) then you might not fit in. Though, one way that you may fit in is either being in the greek system and/or being an athlete in a popular sport such as basketball, football, or baseball.

In Closing...
I transferred from Washington State to a smaller college because of the reasons that I listed. I needed teachers that cared, true friends, and an environment that wasn't surrounded around parties.
