WSU Review

Rating: 0/5 (0 ratings)
Introduction
WSU was the only school in the state which offered my major (nanotechnology). I expected it to be a walk in the park as far as grades go b/c WSU has a rep for being a huge party school. However do NOT come here if you don't expect to work your butt off. If you're a science/pre-med/engineering major, set the parties aside because the rest of your life at wsu, you'll be studying if you want to survive (get out with a decent gpa). This is a school were the business/comm/psych majors are the only ones who party hardcore because their degrees are worthless anyways.
However the proffessors are great, if you're stuck on something, there are a million places to help you. Internships are available everywhere and most cougs are pretty friendly. Plus the campus rocks!

Campus Life and Social Life
The best part about campus is that theres always things to do, and people are really nice.
However the weather sucks during the wintertime... unless you love snow.

Academics
The workload is completely dependent on what your major is. If you're into any type of science/math degree, expect a heavy workload due to several weed-out classes. If you plan to stay away from the sciences, your schoolwork will be a breeze. The pre-vet dept is #1 in the nation. The pre-agriculture, engineering, and communications departments at wsu are ranked pretty high as well. If you're doing business, law, or medicine, go to uw. Otherwise, wsu is a good option.
Furthermore, unless you have bonni kealy (math) as your TA, most of the TAs do not help much. Go directly to the proffessor (they are always available) or the stephenson complex (tutoring) if you're having trouble.

Student Body
If youre a girl, you can party whenever you like. There is something going on at least thurs-sat, if not more. Additionally, a lot of people attend the sports games religiously (pac-10 school). Plus there's an entertainment board that hosts events every weekend, various student clubs hold events, and the university hosts concerts every year. Shopping is pretty limited but other than that there is always something to do.

In Closing...
People who go here take a lot of pride in being a coug. Its a place where you're trapped with thousands of other college students, all enjoying life while chasing after their goals. To all the highschoolers who have their hearts set on uw, I would encourage you to not be so blindsighted, and make sure to be open to learning more about what wsu has to offer. Its a great school and every coug i know is very happy here in pullman.
