IntroductionWashU is ALOT of hard work, but it pays off. There is no such thing as an easy major here (not even art), so if you are the lazy type it isn't the right place for you. But if you're not afraid to do a little sweating, its the place for you. I choose WashU because I got a really good financial aid package and once I visited I just fell in love with it. Everyone is extremely warm and its a nice atmosphere. As an African American student, I can say that there is also a good amount of diversity and we all learn from eachother everyday.
Campus Life and Social LifeClub and intramural sports are popular. A typical weekend consists of clubbing and going to frat parties, there's one every weekend. A typical frat party consists of drinking games, like beer pong and flip cup, occasionally some weed, and dancing. The party life at WU isn't great but its better than some schools, some students love it, others hate it, its all a matter of personal taste and where you're from. Also the food at WU is really good.
AcademicsThe acadmics at WU are amazing (duh its number 12 in the nation). The workload is EXTREMELY heavy but rewarding at the same time. Its also very easy to get in contact with professors and TA's and tutoring is always available. I can't think of a "bad" department at WU but some of the really known ones are the departments of Medicine and Psychology.
Student BodyThe parties are okay but it gets old after a while. A typical weekend at WashU starts on Thursday with a trip to one of the clubs of St Louis and ends Saturday because by Sunday night everyone is cramming to get their last minute homework done.
Everyone is WashU is extremely intelligent and passionate about something. There is also alot of attractive people, in fact, I've never seen so many cute geeks in one place until I got to WU. There are alot of athletic students here, it often seems like everyone is involved in some kind of sport.
In Closing...WashU is an amazing place to go to school if you're not afraid of hard work. Everything here is extremely organized. In fact, the heat in my dorm broke at about 1am and I filed a complaint over the internet, someone was there by 11am to fix it. Its also very costly but the financial aid department is GREAT. I once needed $12,000 for tuition and it was added on to my scholarship. I know that my experience at WU will be something that I will remember for the rest of my life. I will look back at the 4 years I spent here and smile, I'll always be proud of WU.
