You can get lost @ Wayne

Introduction
Wayne State is a good college if you want to commute but do not want to just go to a Community College. There is a big difference between the two. It's exciting to wear the Wayne State gear and go to the football games (even though the team is not the best). There's lots to learn and lots of fun to have.

Campus Life and Social Life
I didn't live on campus but I sure did have a great social life. There's always a party to go to at the fraternities or just random apartments. There's also bars that are the hot spots on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you don't like to party... there are other things to do like all the resturants nearby, go bowling at The Majestic, Greektown is close, or hang out at the student center.
Not all of the sports are very good but that means there is a better chance to get to play the sport that you love. My brother is on the Fencing team and they are nationaly ranked. Then there is my boyfriend who is on the football team and they win about one game a season but he has fun. I've noticed that all the sports teams make friends with eachother and all seem to enjoy themselves whether they are winning or losing. Advertisement
Academics
The classes are difficult from what I can see, but I figure that you are not going to college to be babied. Work load was quite a lot but just as much as any other University. Teachers were willing to help but not sit down with you and go over everything they lectured is class because you were sleeping. They are there to do their jobs and they are good at what they do. I did have a problem with some teachers and their accents and it being hard to understand, but they were still teaching me all I needed to know. High School didn't really prepare me for how fast they will go. I took a German class and I just couldn't keep up because of all the other classes I was taking. You just need to set aside a lot of time to study or even go to the library and work with a tutor for free!

Student Body
What is different about the students at Wayne is that they come from everywhere and all kinds of backgrounds and nationalities. Wayne State is not too difficult to become accepted to so there are people with less education in class sitting next to a previous Valedictorian. There are also a lot of older students going back to school to get a higher degree or just finish getting their education. It's a kind of school that you need to become involved or go to lots of social gatherings to meet people because it's such a large campus with so many people that it's hard to see the same person twice.

In Closing...
The campus is beatiful and it's cool that it's right in the middle of Downtown Detroit but it's not always safe. You need street smarts and common sense to get by. It's also a smart idea to know someone that is already attending to get advice and to show you around. At first it's really hard to not get lost, but eventually you will get the hang of it. Going to this school will definitely get you ready for the real world. You just need to be brave and take chances, and not to mention, lots of money!!!
