Introduction
The campus is beautiful and this is often highlighted in the brochures, however, I advise EVERYONE to visit the campus. Unfortunately, being so far away, I neglected to do so and in the end I was very disappointed. Many of us enter the college admissions process with a distorted view of what we really want from a college and had I taken the time to visit the campus - I would have decided against applying to the school. In spite of this, I chose the school out of necessity and a lack of other options. It was a parental decision and one that has been unfulfilling thus far.

Campus Life and Social Life
It is true that there is always something happening on campus, however, many of the exhibits and presentations do not appeal to me. I suppose my opinion is a bit lop-sided and I enjoy the city much more than the Wellesley Campus. The weekends are therefore dull and unrewarding. I often find myself taking the Senate bus to spend the weekend in Boston with friends at other schools. However, if you do enjoy living in a close-knit community and having everything available within a five minute walk, then Wellesley is perhaps a solid consideration. The new campus center has created space for many new events which is much appreciated. It has yet to reach its full potential, however, I do anticipate good things in the future.

Academics
Wellesley is great in the fact that it does not use TAs, and the professors make themselves readily available; many even offer their home numbers. I am fond of the economics department as well as the French department. Both have been very helpful and very knowledgable. I have also had good experiences with my lab instructors in both the biology and chemistry departments. In spite of this, I am not fond of the math department or the writing department. Please keep in mind though that I have not had extensive experience in either department. With respect to the workload, it really depends on the instructor, however, if an assignment is given - it truly does serve a purpose (I found this out the hard way). I believe, overall, the instruction is quality, and Wellesley does its best to provide its students with the best professors possible.

Student Body
There is the ongoing joke on campus regarding Wendy Wellesley. Wendy Wellesley is the president of her organization, does charity work, and never misses a class while still having time to be a great roommate and help out at House Council. This is true of the typical Wellesley student in some respects. Most students are very motivated and do excell in their area of interest. I have yet to meet a student without passionate enthusiasm for some activity.

In Closing...
Wellesley may have not been my first choice (I do admit that I tell people to get the hell away when they can), but it is the right choice for many. I believe myself to be a city girl and not one prepared for the possible seclusion of Wellesley. In its defense, Wellesley is as big or small as you want to make it.
