Why Am I Here Again?
IntroductionWhen I was applying to college, I had no idea what I was looking for so I just applied to schools whose names I have heard of before, Wellesley, Columbia, NYU, etc. Everyone I knew was pushing me to go to Wellesley because of it's excellent reputation and amazing graduates. I was distracted by the name and other's opinions so I decided to go to Wellesley. However, within the first 2 weeks of arriving at Wellesley I wanted to leave. The campus, although beautiful, is a suffocating bubble that I need to leave everyday. If you enjoy having a social life and excitement, then don't come to Wellesley. Their idea of events on campus are art exhibits and lectures, which are nice but I need more. Plus, being around girls all the time is annoying.
Campus Life and Social LifeThere really are no parties on campus. Sometimes different clubs will throw parties, but the guys that come to Wellesley parties come for a reason, we are known to be either really easy and sluts or lesbians. So they come to the parties for ass. The weekends on campus are dead, it is so deserted you wouldn't even know that people lived on campus. The only choice you have is leave. Boston is great for about a month then it gets quite boring. I come from the Bay Area so Boston is definitely not an impressing city. Compared to all my other friends, my social life at Wellesley doesn't even compare. This is the major reason I am planning on leaving Wellesley. The social aspect of college is missing and being around girls all the time is harder than I thought.

AcademicsThe professors here are great, I like all my professors. This is definitely one of Wellesley's strengths. No classes are taught by TAs and the Professors are so helpful. Workload can be hard and there are definitely stressful times and nights. But it depends on your major. Wellesley is great for Pre-med and Pre-law. If you are looking for great academics and a great academic reputation, Wellesley has that. But then so do other colleges.
Student BodyWhat I like a lot about Wellesley is the diversity on campus. There are people from all over the country and world. It's really cool because I was able to meet people outside of California. The stereotype of Wellesley girls are Wendy Wellesley, a woman who is double majoring, in numerous clubs and organizations all while maintaining a solid GPA. It's very true, it's sometimes hard to find people who can take a break from their work and just forget about it.
In Closing...I don't regret coming here because now I know what I DON'T want from college. But Wellesley is a type of school that offers half of the college experience, the academic part. Although students might tell you that finding guys is easy, don't be fooled it is difficult. So really think twice before coming to Wellesley. Can you really handle being in an isolated campus filled with crazy, overachieving women?? Is this the college experience you want for 4 years? If it is, more power to you, but if you are like me and that doesn't sound appealing, then stay the hell away from here.
