Introduction
When you come to WMU you will have a lot of distractions. Do not attempt to study in your dorm room. Learn where Waldo Library is and use it. WMU has great technological offerings both for academics and for personal use. Enjoy your time here. Western Michigan University is a great place. You will learn as long as you put forth the effort. Work hard and have fun at the same time... meaning: learn time management and YOU WILL SUCCEED!

Campus Life and Social Life
All WMU sporting events are FREE and fun. The "Lawson Lunatics," our student section for our CCHA hockey team, has been rated the #1 rowdiest crowd. Other CCHA teams hate coming here because, they have said, it is the hardest arena to play in. Partying and clubs are all up to you, including inexpensive intramural sports. You are an adult, no one is going to hold your hand; make your decisions and, as an adult, stick to them. You will make plenty of freinds and will have a ton of things to do. Downtown Kalamazoo is terrific. I took a Political Scienece course that forced me to learn about a large city's economic and political issues. I chose Kalamazoo and was able to interview the director of Downtown Kalamazo Inc. (DKI). Trust me, Downtown is getting better and better day by day. It is almost finished; once it is finished, the Downtown will be a huge "hang out." ENJOY IT. Campus is also amazing; it is not too small and not too big. Your longest walk (ONLY FRESHMAN YEAR) is only 20 minutes, and that is if you have a class in Brown Hall. Bronco Bash, every fall, before the semester starts you don't have to go to class the first day, unless your class is at 4pm or later, and you get a bunch of free stuff from all the local companies around. Bash is a great way to meet your fellow students and clubs and organizations. Advertisement
Academics
Westerns Buisness school, Haworth College of Buisness (or HCOB) is one of the best buisness schools in the state. Our Education department is also highly rated and I know several of my friends were able to find jobs right after, if not before graduation. Parkview campus was just built two years ago; it is the engineering campus. This campus is by far the most technologically advanced campus I have ever seen. I cannot explain it, just come and see for yourself. I am a Criminal Justice major; WMU's CJ Department is rated #2 in the state. I have never heard anything bad about any department here.

Student Body
Our student body is AWESOME. No one cares what color, sex, or religion you are. No one cares what kind of car you drive, or what kind of clothes you wear. Everyone is accepted for who you are, not what you are. I know this was a bonus to me because I was able to make friends the first week of school and have had these friends and more the past 5 years. Also, GENTLEMEN :-D, our Male to Female ratio is 3F:1M, in other words, TAKE YOUR PICK, but BE A GENTLEMAN!!!

In Closing...
When you get here, don't sit in your dorm room; go do things, stay safe, have fun, and most importantly get your education. BUT ABOVE ALL, ENJOY WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY AND KALAMAZOO.
