What I think of WMU-Kalamazoo, MI
IntroductionI chose Western Michigan University for the location. Situated in the middle of Chicago and Detroit, it's only a short drive to the Grand Rapids and is very accessible to big cities with a lot to do. Western's campus is small enough to get around, but big enough so that it's not high school. WMU has a great party atmosphere, which is a big part of the student life. The requirements to get in are also not as high as other universities.
Campus Life and Social LifeOne of the best things about WMU is the free sporting events! All it takes is your student ID for entrance. There are a lot of ways to get involved at Western. There are a lot of religious affiliated groups on campus, intramural sports of every kind, tons of community service groups, and a big Greek life. Everyday of the week (weekends in particular) is big on nightlife. There are many clubs and bars near campus and downtown Kalamazoo that students frequent. Students are also big on tailgating before football (and hockey) games. Fraternity Village Drive is a big party street for Greeks and other partiers.

AcademicsWe have a great academic life at WMU. We are know for being one of the top schools for aviation, business, and education. Western recently built a new health and human services building and is also currently constructing a large chemisty building on its main campus. The engineering campus, Parkview, is also new and extensive. WMU is top-ranked for its psychology department, due to the behavioral basis it is influenced by. Every class differs in workload, naturally, but for the most part professors are always willing to assist the student. TAs often lack in knowledge because they too are just students.
Student BodyThe typical student at WMU likes to have fun. Generally, everyone at Western is friendly and it's pretty easy to meet people and become friends with students in your classes or living within the student housing communities. Most students are from Michigan and Illinois, but we do have large out of state and international populations. Our campus has become vastly diverse in the past four years. Ultimately, though, there is no general way to describe a Bronco since each person is an individual.
In Closing...If you're a prospective student, think of Western Michigan University. I think it will have something that sparks your interest!
