The Purple Bubble
IntroductionI chose Williams because it has a beautiful campus, the students are nice and there is a small student body. With only 2000 kids, I knew I would have a chance to get to know my professors and have small, intimate classes. Also, the students are friendly.
Campus Life and Social LifeWilliams is in the middle of nowhere. There is no social scene whatsover. All we have is drinking, and drinking, and more drinking. If you like to drink heavily, Williams is the place for you.
AcademicsAcademics are tremendous - definitely the best part about Williams. Professors care about you, and the classes are small.
Student BodyBecause Williams is in the Purple Bubble, students tend to be largely apathetic and uninvolved in the outside world. For instance, only 3 out of 55 students in my political science class had heard of Cindy Sheehan. Williams kids only really care about what happens on campus. There is minimal political activism. The Williams Dems were in danger of collapsing since there was so few active members. There is no Pro-Israel group or Pro-Palestinian group! Students at Williams are content to enjoy the idyllic environment and become investment bankers.
In Closing...If you want to have a laid-back, comfortable college experience and you like to drink, Williams is for you. If you want peers who are ambitious, involved, and passionate about the real-world, then don't go to Williams.
