Right State, Wrong School
IntroductionI chose this school because I could afford to go here. I really wouldn't recommend this school to anyone, except for people who had trouble in high school and want to try college to see if they can handle it. It's good if you're looking for a "second chance" in life and need a degree to stand on, but it is not a good school for people who just graduated high school and really desire a solid collegiate experience.
Campus Life and Social LifeThere isn't a social life here on campus. The groups are few and far between. This is a military town, so get ready for a bunch of conservatives! The sports teams suck and no one goes to the games. This school is good if you just want to go to class and go home. Nothing ever happens here.
There is a small gay community, but they are shunned by other students because it is so conservative here. One time, I saw people at a safe sex booth get harassed. People here are just too closed-minded for that sort of thing. People here love George Bush and support his every decision. It's just not a good place to be if you're liberal.
Also, women aren't really respected. Everyone here looks at you funny if you're not married or do not want kids. A lot of people expect women to just get their degree, find a man, get married, settle down, and then stay home and take care of the kids. Very, very sad...and limited.

AcademicsClasses here are easy! If you're looking for a ton of blow-off classes and an easy road to a degree, look no further! Professors care about their students and are always avaliable, but they make things too easy for them. I think professors feel bad for students because they are usually older and working. The communications department SUCKS. The sociology, urban studies, and psychology departments are okay. Science departments aren't really worth it here. There aren't a lot of TAs, but those we do have really care about the students.
Student BodyMost people who go to WSU are commuters. Students are generally older, married or in a relationship, and/or have children. Most people grew up in or around Dayton, so there isn't much variety. Like I said before, there are a lot of conservatives here. There are also a lot of Christians, so there is an abundance of Christian groups to join. Everyone works, it seems, so no one is avaliable to go out and have a good time.
In Closing...All in all, I do not recommend WSU unless you are a working adult, conservative, and/or are in a military family. This place sucks and the campus isn't safe at all.
