A Little Bit of Everything

Rating: 5/5 (98 ratings)
Introduction
One thing that I like about Yale are the different colleges, they all kind of have a different style, so I live in this college that kind of looks like a castle I guess. There are also ones that are red brick with big white pillars and stuff and they all kind of have their different feel. You get a little taste of everything.

Campus Life and Social Life
Master’s teas are great. What they do the masters of the various colleges, there are 12 residential colleges here. And the masters of the various colleges, will have guests over pretty often, maybe once every couple weeks or so. They have all kinds of guests. Last year I saw a master’s tea with competitive eaters. These huge guys that just eat a lot. Things like that you’d be like why would they bring them here and it’s just kind of interesting and cool. But at the same time, we have major CEO’s and stuff come and talk to us. So they can be very interesting on both sides of the spectrum.
Academics
One thing that I don’t like about the music major here, is that it’s very old fashion, so you study a lot of old theory and music history and stuff. My professors are very good, for the most part I’ve been very happy with the professors I have here. We have the shopping period, where you have a week, where you can go to any classes you want, without being registered for them or anything. So you get a chance to really see, is this professor going to put me to sleep everyday or is it really exciting. So I think that’s great. The academic life here is also great, the social life is also great, it’s a beautiful place. It’s just really I think is the optimal combination of all the different factors.

Student Body
There are those people that don’t go out and sit in their room and do their homework all the time, but I wouldn’t say that’s the majority of the population here. I wouldn’t say this is the best place to find the most attractive girls, but you know they’re around.

In Closing...
I really like New Haven. I think it’s a good balance between being a city, but not a huge city, where you’re gonna get lost and be afraid of getting killed at night and stuff. There’s a good mix of cultural restaurants and stuff. The weather can be pretty bad here.
