You Can Do Anything Here
IntroductionI came to Yale expecting people to be arrogant and closed minded or I guess uptight is more an accurate description. I was rather shocked when I made it to the first party. It was actually a Hawaiian Luau at one of the on campus fraternities. I have to say it was quite a shock, but a good one at that.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe Greek life on campus is a pretty important part I would say. There are a number of fraternities and sororities, people really like to party at Yale and I’m kind of glad. There are also a number of other groups. For example accapela groups, another unique experience at Yale, in that people not only hang out together and drink. But also sing and provide entertainment. There are also a number of secret societies at Yale. I guess the societies are limited to entrance for seniors only. So after you’ve experienced Yale for 3 years, you’re then tapped into one of these societies. And it provides a great network of friends, connections, social activities. Can’t exactly be too specific on it. It’s sort of secretive as you might imagine.

AcademicsA lot of people like to double major, they have a number of interests and they simply can’t decide between them. There are required courses, however you have a lot of leeway in choosing which course you’ll take. All of the courses are divided into 1 of 4 groups based on content. For example group 1 would be English and language studies. Group 4 for instance, engineering, science majors, they’re further divided into natural sciences. As long as you take a number of courses in each group, you’re all set for graduation.
Student BodyMy favorite thing about Yale would have to be the people. Just the amazing diversity that exists on campus. Making friends from all over the world with a number of interests. I feel like anybody you ever run into you can have an amazing conversation with. The people here, they’re brilliant, they’re incredibly interesting and putting them all together in this once place provides an incredible opportunity to interact, to learn a lot and grow yourself as in individual.
In Closing...My least favorite thing about Yale definitely has to be the location. Connecticut’s sort of a gray, cold state, there’s a lot of snow.
