About the show:

A Crooked Line is the first of Stanford's Asian American Theater Project's two long-awaited Spring productions. Set sometime in the not-so-distant future, and amidst talk of war breaking out again on the Korean peninsula, three siblings, Mina, Leslie, and George, come home for the funeral of a great-aunt whose life is only discussed in embarrassed whispers.

Despite Leslie's efforts to keep the peace, the family reunion deteriorates as old arguments between Mina and George about his decision to join the U.S. army are revived with a new urgency by the impending war.

An insightful play that explores themes of racial identity, racism, family tension, cultural history and political reality, A Crooked Line is brought to life this weekend by a talented cast and crew - an intense, emotional, relatable experience that everybody can identify with.

About the Stanford Asian American Theater Project:

Steeped in history and rich in tradition, the Asian American Theater Project (AATP) boasts its famous founders Tony Award-winning playright David Henry Hwang and Nancy Takahashi. Established in 1978, AATP strives to feature Asian Americans in positive, non-stereotypical roles and to encourage Asian American talent in the arts. We hope to continue to build on our fine tradition of Asian American drama by providing opportunities to act, direct, write, and design. We welcome those interested in drama and theater to join us in our portrayals of the different stories which compose the Asian American experience. Visit http://aatp.stanford.edu for more info about the group.
