Description:
Brayton/Clevenger Hall at Ball State University hosts a 72-Hour Movie Competition every semester. You have one weekend to write a movie, assemble a team, shoot the film, and edit it into a final product.
"Deficit" was the only entry in the Spring '05 competition, because Nick, the RA in charge, completely dropped the ball. Two day's advanced notice, scheduled for a weekend when the video cameras would all be reserved in advance for class projects, and also during a weekend with freezing rain to prevent all outdoor filming. BOO.
So... I won.
To discourage early starts from teams, a small list of items were required in all films:
-A peanut (deleted from final version of this film for pacing)
-A copy of TIME magazine (nobody reads that in college, so I used a fake cover that my friend made for a graphic design class)
-A bottle of Difi shampoo (a brand that none of the stores carry, and Google Image search had exactly ONE result. Thanks, Nick.)
-Cast an RA in a role as an extra (I settled for a picture. Like it mattered.)
Adding to the complication, I had mono while shooting this film, hence my send-off about never making another movie again.
