Robo-Hoops Robot Basketball Scoop

Description:
"Scoop" is an autonomous robot, not radio controlled, built in 2006, with minor modifications in 2007, for Robo-Hoops robot basketball competition at Penn State Abington. This video is from the solo round of the 2007 competition. A Parallax Basic Stamp BS2 controls the robot, a 754410 dual H-bridge drives the motors, and an LM324 quad op-amp configured as a quad comparator complete the board. I used a phototransistor for the starting light sensor. Two CdS photocells underneath serve as line sensors. They are illuminated by white LEDs for consistent results in all lighting conditions. In 2007, Scoop won Most Points Scored (14 points), and took Second Place, bested by a well engineered bot from Drexel University that used a defensive strategy and sonar to locate and prevent Scoop from scoring.
