Honored as this nation's outstanding structural engineering achievement in 1976, the Dome was daring and innovative in concept and execution. Its signature barrel vault design comprises innovative, one-of-a-kind wooden trusses that span in excess of 400 feet, offers a weather-free forum for educational, athletic, and arts events and activities. This simple, strong, graceful structure serves the University, the communities of the Palouse, and the State of Idaho extremely well and is deserving of both preservation and continued investment.
