While I am an econ. major, the School of International Service is an amazing school, and DC is by far the best place to be studying politics and international relations. If you are into small, personal classes, great politics and atmosphere, and a great selection of majors, come here. The size is right - the student population isn't huge but the resources of the University are rather extensive. Thus, you get the feel of a small school with the resources of a much bigger one. American University: AU isn't a bad choice
The school is a lot better than it gets credit for, but it definitely fits some people better than others. You'll find very politically conscious people here. Most students are political science or international relations students, however, it also has a strong communications school. In terms of personalities, you'll find a mix of everyone on campus; nerds, jocks, etc.
