It should be pretty clear to anyone applying to Duke that you have to be willing to meet academic challenges in order to succeed at this school. Duke can be tough. Sure, you can mosey your way through school with easy courses - but at Duke, "easy" is a relative term. It's not impossible; I mean, I'm a huge lazybones and a top-rate procrastinatory, but I made Dean's List. One really important thing (and I think this goes for any college) is writing ability. Duke: I wish this could last forever...
I chose Duke because of the people, first and foremost. Everyone here is so talented and interesting. From varsity nationally recognized athletes, published writers, dancers, musicians, children of politicians, etc. everyone has something to contribute. The students here are diligent workers but also love to have a good time either at a sporting event, tailgate, frat party, or a school-sponsored event. Do not come if you are just trying to be a book-worm or want to party all the time. There...
