Small liberal arts colleges are all the rage now, and Macalester is a great one. It is one of the few that are located in a city (although the Twin Cities might not be that big). I once heard somebody say "Macalester is a place where some people do nothing, and others do everything," which is definitely true. Macalester: You Wanna Go here??
If you are looking at going to Macalester make sure you know what you are gettin' yourself into. It is a liberal, tree-huggin, hooka-smoking, frisbee-throwing, dread-lock wearing, no need to shave kind of crowd. I actually came here by mistake. I was at Lafayette College my freshmen year and transferred here as a sophomore thinking it would be alright. Man was I wrong. If you are a conservative of any kind, or moderate for that matter I would strongly reccommend not going here.

Macalester: A Transfer's Perspective
Anyone looking for the big college party scene will be very disapointed. If you were popular in high school, chances are you won't be at Mac. We are all a bunch of outcasts, nerds, freaks that hate classist systems. If you are opinionated, individualistic, and liberal, you'll fit right in. People of faith may have trouble feeling accepted, but trust me, there is a place for you as long as you're appreciative of all faiths.
