From what I've seen, there is not a lot of competition--if you want to do well in class, you're competing with yourself, not your peers. UCSC - UC Santa Cruz: So Much to Offer!
Santa Cruz is beautiful and I love it. I chose this place initally because it was the only UC school I got into, but now I realize that it has so much to offer both academically and socially. The classes I have taken so far have been taught by professors who are interesting and highly skilled in the the area of instruction. UC Santa Cruz is what you make it. Most of the resources here - great classes, school social events, non-school social events - you have to seek out. It's not difficult to find really awesome classes to take and fun things to do, but you can't sit in your room and expect to be told about them. If you don't like to walk, don't come to UCSC.
