Honestly, I imagine the immigration policy is only going to become stricter over time; the fear of foreign terrorism is strong here. Even now the policy is certainly not leniant. I have a friend who crossed the Canadian border to visit some people and then had one heck of a time trying to reenter the United States.

First of all. I believe we should allow only the brightest foreign students. And only the ones that want to go to the most prestigious colleges. That way we don't have public universities getting foreign students and leaving no more room for Americans who should have been able to get into that college.

I don't know, I am not American. But whoever I asked, they all said it's a shame that everything is written in English and in Spanish as well, because the Mexicans are too lazy to learn English.
By the way the USA was built the most between the Civil War, and and WW1. That was the time when tens of millions of immigrants were going there, and very few latinos. They started to immigrate from the 70's. And now, they have completely invaded California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
The US doesn't need the Mexicans and the Asians as much, as they need the US.

When the British were in the Industrial Revolution, we had to fight all the time against foreign rule. This is why my country and Eastern Europe is behind the west. You never had that. You have just built an empire of colonies where you exploited and massacred the native people in Africa and India.
I'm going to the US, because I was admitted to one of their best schools, you can't even dream about getting in. And I want to experience the American Dream as many Hungarians did a hundred years ago.

FYI, Hispanics/Latinos happen to be some of the hardest working people I know. Like Sam said, they are willing to do jobs that we, Americas, seem to think are beneath us. And Viktorious, I'm surprised you are degradinig Asians and Hispanics when you're an immigrant as well. You wouldn't be too pleased if Americans chose not to allow Hungarians or other Europeans to enter the U.S, now would you? Asians and Hispanics come to America for the same reason you want to... to make a better life for themselves. Remember: America is the land of opportunities.

I sent Doug a message earlier today with regard to the recent bout of posts that have been racist and crude. His response basically detailed that there isn't anything they can do. Everyone has the right to post their opinions... and he's right. If anyone has a problem with what anyone else is saying, it's best to just ignore it. Arguing isn't solving anything, and the moderators won't step in until someone does something that actually breaks theU's policies.

But now, more Spanish speaking people live in the US, than the entire population of my country. Most of them don't have any education, very few of them speak English. If it goes this way, one quarter of your country will be native Spanish speaker by 2020. Do you really want that? So tell me, in what way these people are the same as the smart Europeans?

As a daughter of an immigrant I don't understand how someone could "steal" a job. Immigrants come to this country and work twice as hard with half the pay. Just because you were born in America doesn't mean you that you should get first dibs on jobs. The job market is open to any and is competitive. If you can't understand that then good luck in the future.
