Forum Topic: "How is the University of Central Florida perceived?"

Post a new topic
Ok so I am a junior in a public high school here in Florida and really want to go to college out of the state, but due to financial constrictions this may not be possible, so i am being forced to look at schools here in Florida. I hope to study business at a large institution, which really narrows down my choices to UF, FSU or UCF (I really dont like U of M). I have my reservations about FSU and its reputation as a party school. I know that UF isnt exactly a non-party school, but at least i'll get a really great education. I do however question whether I'll get in to UF, so i have started doing some research on UCF. The campus is beautiful, but i am concerned that potential employers may not respect my degree from UCF, in comparison with one from UF, Penn State, Indiana etc.

So guys whats the buzz about UCF, nationally speaking?

I'm from the west coast, and, not to be blunt, but no one really thinks a lot about the FL schools. UF...mayybbee, but even then it's just like a good state school. But perhaps there are higher standards due to the Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, USCness in the area, which all have renowned b-schools.

Out of those 3 though, I'd say UF. It has a solid reputation, and is definitely helped by the notoriety of its athletic programs. Don't really know much about the rest, sorry :/

good luck though!

Being honest with you, University of Central Florida is not hard to get in which means everyone can get in. I would say University of Florida since it is freaking hard to get in since they won all the championship in football and basketball last year. However, when you get a job, I do not think they care about undergraduate school. They care more about graduate school. University of Florida, I heard, is really fun!

UF all the way *does gator chomp*

i'm starting school there in the fall, thankfully. from what i hear acceptance is a B**** and a half and people that should have been accepted weren't. i can name you numerous cases were kids are actually trying to appeal the school to get in....so, i would make sure you're a really great candidate. not to mention people that had better sat scores and were better well rounded than i was and they got rejected...

UCF is a pretty good up and coming school much like UNF. the campus is beautiful and the dorms are so much better than all the other florida schools. and it's true when people say anyone can get in.

FSU is not as a big as a party school as UF but i heard they are neck and neck...

and only apply to UM if you don't mind droping 40 k a year on undergrad school lol

if ure going to business then i would say uf. but just to let you know u have to work hard to get in because this year the DRAMATICALLY cut down admissions like crazy because they're trying to become an ivy league. they way they selected this year, they might as well have been a ucla or univ of michigan or one of those schools. and next year its only going to get harder. as for fsu, its not as good of a school as uf, but it is the most competitive school in florida. they have the most applications and its getting harder to get in because of that. i too live in fl , and some of the people that didn't get into fsu , i was pretty shocked about. but really it makes sense because alot of people know they wont get into uf so they apply yto the next best thing, fsu. and most ppl who apply to uf apply to fsu too as a back up. so they have sooo many applications. ucf isn't nationally ranked, but i think its because its so new. its the easiest to get into out of uf fsu and ucf. that doesn't mean its not a good school tho, as for their business school i have no clue about but i know they are known to have an amazing engineering school.

hope i helped!

UF is by far the best and has a great reputation all along the east coast. apparently not on the west but if that doesn't matter to you then what does that matter?
