Forum Topic: "I need help! Priorities????"

Post a new topic
I'm currently a junior in high school, however I'm planning ahead so I'd be prepared to actually prepare in my senior year. I'm a resident of Florida but I'd like to live "the city life".New York was my first choice and pretty much my only choice. Then I did research on the biggest universities located there such as NYU and Columbia.Ummm...it's lame.Prominent schools, but I don't think I'd enjoy it socially.I know education goes first and all, yet I still need advice about that. Please!!!

What do you mean by social?! What are the top 3 or 5 or whatever things that have made high school what it is. The things you would NOT trade for anything, for example school dances, showing crazy school spirit at games, and being involved with music clubs. Then do research and talk to students from the colleges your considering to make sure it can offer these things. Also don't rule out clubs and activities the colleges offer that sound amazing! College is about learning and trying new things! I hope this helps, its how I've been handling my college search.

Yea thanks for the help, and I know it's all about trying new things. It's just that my thing is the top colleges I've been considering in the past have students who really aren't "my type". They seem very reserved, conservative, and not willing to have a little fun, at all. I know it's primarily about education but at the same time I'm pretty outgoing. That's why I'm contemplating about whether I should consider that when I apply next year or not.

you would never find a conservative/reserved/unable to have fun person at NYU, for sure.
there are really big party schools that are also in the same caliber as columbia, such as dartmouth.

I realized that as I was researching as well.Me being the very picky person I am, I don't want a school that parties TOO hard yet going somewhere where nothing at all goes on will eventually bore me. Is it such a bad thing to think about that also? Not sure. I've been told that though...
