Hey...I've gotten into both ucsb and pepperdine but I cant decide on where to go. UCSB is better for my major (economics) but I'm scared that I'll party too much and not be able to focus as compared to at Pepper. Plus, both the campuses are beautiful so they kind of cancel each other out...HELP!!

My friend just visited Pepperdine and said that it was a dry campus and had no co-ed housing. One is forced to ask, "what, then, is the point of college?"
- godfatherbob Pepperdine is known for having one of the best campus' in the U.S. It is a great school, the only thing is that its very conservative. UCSB i have heard is very difficult to get good sleep because of the noise, and a lot of students end their frosh year with bad grades. But UCSB has a lot socially going on. If you want info on the negatives of UCSB go to http://www.thedarksideofucsb.com/
- oop Okay, my dad is a alum of Pepperdine. It is a great school. The students are very friendly and studious. They are building the almni base internationally. My dad has met the leaders in business from Asia to Europe. So, I would say that it's business program doesn't suck.
- cameron UCSB def parties more, but I have some friends at Pepp and drinking isn't uncommon there either. pepp has more wealthy students and such, but has the benefit of not being known as a complete party school.
so i'd say they're pretty equal, actually.

Drinking isn't uncommon on any college campus. It's considered one of the biggest problems by most school administrators. I know that there has been discussions between schools like, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Harvard and such about the dangers alcohol is causing. So, no school goes unscathed in this matter.
Pepperdine also has a very strong endowment so it is not populated with only wealthy students. I would say there are as many wealthy students at UCSB as there are at Pepperdine. Surfcali08 I have spent A LOT of time at Pepperdine and at UCSB. Remember I sail. Pepperdine is more studious. It's no contest.
In my opinion certain people on this sight have a bias against private colleges. Colleges that can often offer far superior financial aid than is available at public institutions. And, in today's world that counts for a lot.

Pepperdine has some of the biggest leaders in business not only as supporters of the college but, also attending classes. If you really want to understand what economics is all about why not find out from experts in the field?
